Alright

Personally, I'm not too keen on this one to be honest, I mean it is okay but there are a few things I would have rather seen in this, I would have found it much funnier if he started to chew through the gum. I know that would also be kind of disgusting, lol, but it would have amused me personally which is all I'm thinking of here.

The ending is also kind of bleh to me, I was expecting him to crash into something or someone, like one of the girls who has appeared in some of your other flash, that might have been a bit more amusing. Those are just my ideas anyway, this is okay and the timing of the ending is good, so nice work on that, also you have the hand joke in this again, which is clever to see, just don't over use it.

Let me just say that this one in particular I didn't think through, and as a result I can tell that it suffered a bit, and on some of your points I agree. The reason I didn't have Jim chew the gum though, is because he doesn't have a mouth, and it would have been difficult to show what he's doing. I also didn't want this to end up too much like RTIL's cartoon "GUM" (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/vie w/381169).

Concerning the ending, to use an old saying, I "wrote myself into a corner." I made this flash as I went along, and when you do that, you're not really focusing on the ending, you're focusing on making it funny wherever you're at in the animation. Looking back now, I regret having not thought through it before I did the flash (at least) but hey, you win some, you lose some.

I admit that I kind of dropped the ball on this one. I'll make sure not to let that happen again.

Lol

That's actually pretty amusing, the sig creation at the start of this on the preloader was a good idea for those who want one. Though I am a little disappointed by the lack of letters you allow, it only goes up to 5 on the first set so I couldn't put "Little" in it, raise it to 6, lol. Anyway, the designs on that where good although lacked pink hair.

The preloader dress up thing aside, the actual flash was also pretty good, although I'm not keen on how you didn't give them teeth in the mouth movement, I really think that would have looked better. The graphics and animation to this are pretty good as well as some amusing jokes to this, some not so funny to me but eh. The voice acting and audio was done very well here, good work overall.

Kart-Man responds:

Thanks for the review! Aw, fine, I'll raise it to 6 letters.

As for the lipsync, it's a bit of a habit for me. :P Plus, the teeth would have taken a lot more time, which I didn't really have too much of. I wanted to put this out as close to Comic-Con as I could get to maximize its effectiveness.

Thanks again. <3

Okay

Not really anything special in terms of looks of this, I think it would have been much better if you had used screenshots of the year you where talking about insted of using a modern one, kind of gives the wrong impression, also I would say that you missed out the part of the major redesign in 2007 which was a huge part of Newgrounds.

There is so much more information you could put into this, a lot that is left out I think, quite a lot has happend on the site. As well as Ross leaving again this year, so yeah, missing quite a bit. But some decent info there and the narration was good, just need to improve on the visual content and add a bit more history, even catagorise it if you could.

Insanimation responds:

Well, about the screenshots: couldn't find any of teh right ones, simple as that...

And about the missed history: I was working from the History page, which hasn't been updated since 2006...and I joined at the end of April this year(I think it might have even been Pico Day), so I don't know very much about the history other than what is written..

Anyway, thanks for the review!

Okay

It seems to be kind of odd in a way, there doesn't seem to be too much point shown in the whole thing, no real build up or anything, some opening diolog between the two people being filmed would have been good to see and not really starting right into shooting. The shooting animation is decent and does seem to look like it's coming from the guns which is good.

The ending is probably the funniest part about this I have to say, much of the rest just seems more like a silly video, so I'm not really so keen on those parts, they where kind of lacking in my view. But otherwise, everything else here seemed to be fine, just need to expand the idea a little more I think.

Fro responds:

I really can't expand the idea when the idea was for us to shoot at each other for a little bit and then that's it, meaning the whole point of the flash was there wasn't a point in the flash. Who exactly said there had to be a point? If there was then well over half of the flashes on newgrounds wouldn't be here.

Oh and the lasers were actually coming from the gun, they were real. But seriously I give credit to my friend for doing the laser parts because you have to draw each individual laser and then draw where it's going to end up and draw every where in between. That takes awhile and there isn't any short cuts.

There probably won't be another one of these unless I personally get my own camera, which I might be getting and then I will put together something, but honestly it can't be too big because you saw how short this was and it still took up 5 MB. It seems like live action takes up more space then animation. I rather stick to shorts like this, but maybe put a story line into the next ones and make a series. Again, that probably won't be done. My friend is actually coming over tonight and we are making a new movie, but sadly it won't have any animation in it except for the menu will. It's not a starwars movie either.

Thanks for the review.

Not Too Bad

Well the graphics whern't too bad although they did look traced, they did also look like they lacked a bit of charactor to them. The voice acting was very clear and everything which was good and you had subtitles to them which fit in with the whole flash as well as being easy to read, though parts of the voice acting could be improved like the part where he said "Whoa", that sounded to lack charactor.

The animation was okay but some parts just seemed a little off, like the looping movement of the ships, seemed to kind of jerk in a way. But most parts of the animation seemed to be okay and the mouth movment was pretty decent but it did need more work on facial expressions, they just looked expressionless.

MCYoshi responds:

The reason my work sometimes looks as though it's traced is I always use a picture of a character as reference and basically draw that character in that exact pose. That way I have proportions correct, etc. Usually I'll then draw heads and other things at the different angles that are necessary for the animation. This takes a long time to draw in flash however. Fox's complete body took over two hours in just the one pose, so I usually try to go for the least amount of drawings as possible.
Yes, there wasn't too much going on with facial expressions mainly to save time. I was trying to get this done in a week, ended up taking a little bit longer.
I guess I can see a 3/5 score for someone who's not a fan of Star Fox or even Nintendo general, though that is the audience this movie was made for so not too much I can change there. My next project however is for a much larger audience so maybe you would enjoy that. Anyway thanks for the review.

Nice Job

I know this flash was pretty short but that doesn't matter, it's still funny, making it longer would probably have killed this flash. The joke at the end of this was unexpected just from viewing this from the start and it is kind of funny as is the joke at the start. Though the joke with the file was more obvious than the final one you have here.

The artwork here was also very well done and some pretty good animation too, good sound and everything was clear. I have no problems with this flash, it seems everything is done well. Really good work overall, especilly considering the length of this flash.

boinky33 responds:

SILENCE! I don't remember requesting your opinion on this matter.

Pointless

I'm guessing the point of this is to get low reviews or something along those lines becuase the flash itself doesn't have a point to it. This is just some still pictures slaped onto a stage with some badly looping music, sure if it looped better it might be a little better but still, wouldn't be much of a flash.

The quality of the pictures is pretty bad, small too so kind of pointless and the audio is also pretty bad quality too, doesn't loop well and everything but you know all this I'm guessing. Do something more productive if you want to use the pictures, make a quiz with them or something, just something with some entertainment value.

Wegra responds:

Tis okay. You're just being honest

Hmm, Okay

Noot too bad but don't have tweened text on the preloader screen, it looks a little lame and gives a bad first impression, by all means put text but present it well. The menu seems to be presented well which is good, well most of it anyway and the buttons work fine too, so that's good. As with the flash itself, I'm not a huge fan of sprites but it's okay, the opening scene is a little crowded with sprites though.

The sound effects and music are all decent quality and easy to hear, so that's definatly a good point about this. I will also say that much of the sprite animation is pretty decent too, though some parts it does seem a little odd, but for most part it's good. But at the main fight at the end, you have them starting to fight then saying 'Round 1' after a bit of fighting, I didn't quite get that.

they were warming up...then when they powered up then thats when the real fight started

Intresting

It was a pretty decent collab, the menu was good and the mini game at the start where both quite intresting to see and somewhat diffrent too. The actual collab itself did have many good parts and the music fit the theme, but I have to say the one thing I am most disappointed about is the lack of humours parts, much of it seems to be violance or violance related humour, not that it's a bad thing for those who like it, just I'm not keen on it.

No real problems with the parts themselfs though, I did like the ones that didn't revolve around just violance better though, lol. You might also want to hide the custom arrow from the actual flash, it gets in the way, the ending replay part was pretty diffrent to, so that was nice, good work overall.
