Calming

I can't say I have ever really played the game though I think I had the demo once, that aside though, because I don't really remember what it sounded like. This is pretty good all the way through, it has a very calm tune to it and sounds very good. Although one problem to me is that it's a little short and the ending just kind of dies, I didn't like how it ended.

Everything other than the way it ended is great, just work on that ending, it was just sudden and then too much silance. But otherwise, yes, good job.

every1 says ending is bad... o well, yeah i could use some work.

Pretty Neat

It's certainly got a nice feeling to it and it does sound pretty nice, though the sharp beats though the song seem to let it down for me, maybe if they where a little softer they would sound better. I mean they do work but to me they just seem a little too sharp maybe.

The flow of the song is good though, it does get a little repetative after a while though, but then starts to change in pitch towards the end which does work and it keeps a simler tune which is nice. So pretty good work on this one, very nice and keep it up.

yeah, it was meant to be repetative to calm people down

Very Upbeat

It sounds pretty fast and energetic even at the start, not sure if that's a good thing or not but it does sound good, kind of like an old game for a gameboy or something, kind of like a town background beat or something. It does seem to sound a little repetative after a while, maybe some veriation would be cool to add in this but eh.

The ending seems like it would be sudden but it does end in kind of a quieting down way, which is good but maybe have it open like that too. Just my opinion but still, pretty good overall :)

Thanks for the review. Yeah, repetitiveness is the major issue. I'm glad you like the ending.
Cheers.

WB

Alright

It has quite a slow opening, some people like that, I don't mind it though it would be great if it opened up a little faster in my opinion, the sudden burst was intrestesting, gave it something and kind of okay to listen to, but the first burst was too sudden. The second burst was nice though, works well with the quietness of the whole thing.

It does fit very well together, except as I mentioned the first burst, it just seemed to sudden to me, the rest is good though and the ending is pretty good to, though didn't take as long to end as it did to start, but nice work overall.

Thanks for reviewing :)

Yeah, it's a bit sudden, but I don't really see a way to build into it.

Nice

I really like this track, it's very nice and has a very calming tune to it, doesn't get too loud or fast, which I think adds to the whole feeling of the music here. Although it does seem to get more energetic as it plays through, I wouldn't really say it changes it too much, very easy to listen to.

Can't really suggest anything you could possibly add to this peice, everything just plays out so well and it is relaxing, I was thinking the ending was looking that it would be too quick from the time left, but it seemed to end well too. So really, good job alround on this one!

Nice

It doesn't really stand out that much though, the opening is good with the beating sound and the through the rest it kind of fades into the background and there is a tune over it. It does sound good though, it kind of reminds me of Unreal Tournament in someway though to be honest. It has a really nice beat to it and because it doesn't stand out, it isn't distracting.

Although it sounds very repetative through the main part, it ends the same way it started in someway which is pretty good. Very long peice that's to be said but none the less, I do like it. Keep up the good work.

I actually had a lot of fun making this one, and it sounds better when it's played loud. (There's some subtleties in the background there)

I haven't got much to say about this one, other than I really like the atmosphere of it. It does get a little repetitive perhaps, but not too much I think. It's my first piece to even have a tiny bit of "epicness" to it though xD

I'm pretty proud of that, it's tough to make something epic :P

Thanks for the review! :D

Swell

Nice work on this, haven't watched Pokemon in ages though, don't think I know some of the ones you mentioned, lol. The background music to this sounds very good and fits with the whole thing, the voice work here is good too, though it's a little quiet at the end, still good.

Couldn't hear you breath in, which sounds good and everything seems to be pronoced right too, good idea and everything. Would have been nice to hear a little more though, lol, but good job :P

Background music was from the Nintendo 64 game Pokemon Puzzle League, a simple but very addicting game once you figured out how to do large combos. Nothing quite like Thundershocking half a screen worth of blocks onto your opponents side, and then watching him squirm.

Alright

Well I do have a slight problem with this one, there is a kind of fuzz on the top of everything which I find to be distracting from everything else. Though I do like the sounds of everything else, they all do fit in well with the whole flow and everything as well as the ammount of diversity in this peice, I guess you could say it represent the Human Genome in diversity, lol.

The ending is good, it all slows down and comes to a stop and the opening is fine too, gradually building up, the main tune is also very good, just the part with the fuzz sound that bothers me here, otherwise very nice :)

Mataro responds:

I quite enjoyed all the atmospherics of this piece as well. There was a lot of new stuff I tried in this one.. To name a few;
DNB Style
Synthy Storm sort of atmosphere (this one really reminds me of a storm at sea)
Used a bunch of new synths I'd never touched before
Breakbeat/Glitch drums (those took a long time to write x.x)

I thought the ending came off well too, but as for the fuzz.. It's a layer of distortion on the drums to make them pack more punch and give them a harsher feel. Without the distortion the whole track has a pretty smooth feel.. But I think it would lose that stormy feel, and it definitely wouldn't represent the human genome very well :P

I dunno', the distortion on the drums is always hit or miss with people, some like it, some don't. Thanks for the great review anyway, I appreciate it! :D

Quiet

It's got a very kind of quiet sound to it, it's clear but I mean not too noticible, it would be good as some background music for an animation based in the past or something like that, kind of has that sort of beat to it. It is also very easy to listen too and doesn't really stand out too much.

The opening of this is good and the ending part is also good, although I'm not to keen on the loud clashes towards the end, I didn't think they fit in. The main tune was good though, I liked it and it also had quite a bit of varity to it, very nice, keep it up!

Mataro responds:

Yeah, this one's kind of relaxed and ambient. It reminds me a lot of DooM or HeXen. Kind of Donkey Kong Country-ish at times too. The opening took a fair bit of fiddling around with to get it to sound the way I wanted x.x

The loud clashes actually don't bother me all that much, but I kind of rushed the flute/bell. It doesn't sound bad, it just sounds a little off at parts. But for half an hour of work it turned out pretty well. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it, though :D

Good

It starts off a little quiet and then seems to build up into the main song, which is pretty nice and sounds good, also the main part of it seems to be very busy and flows well, I think it actually makes it sound longer than it actually is, but that's good, it was pretty good to listen to although a little repetative, the ending was also pretty neat to.

Good work on this, can't really offer any suggestions since everything here seemed to pretty much flow together, smooth start and a good finish, maybe a little more diversity through the main part but not really needed. Good job on this :)

Mataro responds:

I agree that it could be a little more diverse, but I worked on it for about an hour and then ran out of things to do with it xD

I ended up spending a bunch of time just trying to mix it up a bit, but I went with the original. There's a few things that I could have done though.. I'm not the biggest fan of the intro for the lead guitar. I'm thinking I should have led it in with low-pass and high harmonics. But oh well, I like it as is. :P

Thanks a ton for the review, I really do appreciate it. 'Course, I really appreciate the 5/5 too. xD
