"Spam Much"

date: July 11, 2008

There is music here and one gif that moves, the others are just still, the images are poor quality and there is pretty much no effort put into this flash. I mean, you could atleast do something, I don't mind watching spam if it is atleast funny, but this has no entertainment value, the music quality isn't even that great, it's just really bad.

Granted you have animation and such but really, there's nothing worth watching in this flash, it doesn't take long to load, so it's not a huge waste of my time. Though it probably took longer to make than it did for me to load this, lmao. Actually put some effort into well, something.

"Hmm, Okay"

date: July 11, 2008

Noot too bad but don't have tweened text on the preloader screen, it looks a little lame and gives a bad first impression, by all means put text but present it well. The menu seems to be presented well which is good, well most of it anyway and the buttons work fine too, so that's good. As with the flash itself, I'm not a huge fan of sprites but it's okay, the opening scene is a little crowded with sprites though.

The sound effects and music are all decent quality and easy to hear, so that's definatly a good point about this. I will also say that much of the sprite animation is pretty decent too, though some parts it does seem a little odd, but for most part it's good. But at the main fight at the end, you have them starting to fight then saying 'Round 1' after a bit of fighting, I didn't quite get that.

The Pirate Collab

"Intresting"

submission: The Pirate Collab
date: July 11, 2008

It was a pretty decent collab, the menu was good and the mini game at the start where both quite intresting to see and somewhat diffrent too. The actual collab itself did have many good parts and the music fit the theme, but I have to say the one thing I am most disappointed about is the lack of humours parts, much of it seems to be violance or violance related humour, not that it's a bad thing for those who like it, just I'm not keen on it.

No real problems with the parts themselfs though, I did like the ones that didn't revolve around just violance better though, lol. You might also want to hide the custom arrow from the actual flash, it gets in the way, the ending replay part was pretty diffrent to, so that was nice, good work overall.

"Good Start"

submission: Please help me!
date: July 10, 2008

Well it's a good start, I will say that but it is lacking quite a bit too, the idea and the base for everything is there, which is good, though you might want his arms to be at his side when he's not using them as oppost to being at an angle. Much of the animation is pretty okay, some parts could be better but nothing too bad in that sense and the music is easy to hear.

I would suggest having some backgrounds and even colour or just have shades of black/grey/white if you want to do it that way. Like I say, it's a start and it seems like there is a base here, but you could do so much more to make it look better. The subtitles are okay but they could be improved too, just have a grey bar along the bottom at something like 50% Opacity and put the text over that.

My Day Off!

"Alright"

submission: My Day Off!
date: July 10, 2008

Well it seemed like it could have been better than it came across, I mean it was okay and it did have it's moments but you might want to work a little on the voice acting, some of it sounded a bit off to me. The animation for much part seemed to be okay though, but in one or two parts, the mouth movement was out with the sound, might want to fix that lol.

The story was kind of funny in parts and the credits was pretty clever too, but at times it also seemed like it was trying too hard, my first impression was that this was going to be super funny but it was more just ammusing. Anyway, pretty good work overall.

"Much Work Needed"

date: July 10, 2008

This needs quite a bit of work doing to it, the questions are okay so that's a good thing about it, I mean although I don't know to much, they are still okay. Presentation is a major problem with this I feel, the background isn't that good, seems to be far too simple as with the menu and intro ones, so work on that, maybe improve the buttons a little if you can, just make it look nice.

When you get a question wrong, you go back to the first question, how about just going back one question? I don't know about everyone else but starting all over again annoys me a lot. The images for getting one right could be presented better too, maybe a frame in a gallery or something, be creative, don't just slap a picture on and expect it to look nice.

The music, well, I have to say it did kind of start to get annoying after a while, not to easy to listen to for me. Try to use something more ambiant and have a mute button too, maybe even have multiple audio tracks, you can find some good tracks in the audio portal.

Button Finder 2

"Not Bad"

submission: Button Finder 2
date: July 10, 2008

There are many things about this that you could improve on though, I mean to start with though, it can be quite a hard game at parts, not hard to work out how to play but hard to find, though you might want the button to stand out a little to give a chance, I don't mean make it obvious but just to stand out a little more, on easy mode anyway. The pictures used where pretty good too, so no problems with that and the music was okay.

One thing I'm not to keen on is the overall layout of the whole thing, the menu just looks really basic and thrown together, no real structure to it. Try to add a nice background to the menu and some plesent looking buttons, just so they look nicer, I mean that would really help, not just plain white with badly colour buttons, no offence, lol.

The idea of diffrent levels of difficulty is good but maybe some other modes too, like a timed mode or something, just to give someone a little more to do. I don't know about everyone else, but if I can't do something, I get bored and just close, adding a timed mode means they have to work it out in that time and try again if they can't do it.

Author's Response:

Thanks! This has helped a lot. I agree with the menu. If my brother didn't get me to put in then it would've had another blank background. I have considered adding a time mode and if I get a script for it before the next one then I will. I might just add a clock so people can time themselves.

Awesome Sprite Tutorial

"Nothing New"

date: July 4, 2008

Pardon me for not really liking this or finding it all that intresting but from what I can say is that there is nothing really new here, there are many sprite tutorials around and well this might explain it a little diffrently, it isn't really all that new to me. That's the major problem with it, other than that though, the presentation seems okay, but I question the use of the Wright sprite.

The lack of audio although does make it smaller, it also makes it less intresting, try to find a small loop and use that for audio and add a mute button for people who don't want to hear the audio. Everything else seems to look okay and explained pretty well too, although I'd do it a diffrent way, everyone is diffrent.

Some parts ARE new. I checked almost all sprite toturials and they skipped a few things. Oh and almost no constructive criticism in sight.

The Music Video Collab

"Alright"

date: July 4, 2008

It was a pretty decent collab, I mean there where some good parts as well as some not so good parts, though none of them where really bad. I was glad this had a menu too, though the bio thing could have been payed out a little better, each bit seemed to have diffrent colour text and wasn't too consistant, I wasn't too keen on that presentation wise.

But overall, I think this is a decent collab with it's good parts, although the idea could do with tweeking, I mean having diffrent bits of songs is okay if you can get them to work well one after the other, this just seemed like they where random and didn't really have much flow in my view. Otherwise though, prettey decent as I say.

"Needs Work"

date: July 4, 2008

This needs much work doing to it, for a start having voice actors to do the speaking would be much better than having the text for them, that and the text doesn't seem to be presented too well, have it in a speech bubble or something, it would look better that way.

Also, the use of sprites and drawn backgrounds, pick one or the other, this doesn't really work here, if you improve your drawing then it might work but right now, it doesn't. I'd suggest just drawing everything and not using sprites to be honest, it might be harder but eventually it could look much better. The audio is okay though, but everything else needs work.
